A production line is an arrangement of machines in a factory where the products pass from machine to machine until they are finished. Production line worker also known as team assemblers, construct everything from airplane parts to medical equipment, usually in a factory environment.
Why was the production line revolutionary?
The immediate impact of the assembly line was revolutionary. The use of interchangeable parts allowed for continues workflow and more time on task by laborers. Worker specialization resulted in less waste and a higher quality of the end product.
How does the production line increase productivity?
The assembly line sped up the manufacturing process dramatically. It allowed factories to churn out products at a remarkable rate, and it also managed to reduce labor hours - benefiting many workers who used to spend 10 to 12 hours a day in the factory trying to meet quotas.
What are the strength and weakness of the production line?
Strength ( Skills) : Attention to detail, critical thinking, strong communication, interest and aptitude for technology.
Other disadvantage of assembly line production are based on the workers point of view, because little training is generally required, wages may not be very competitive. The work itself can also be extremely repetitive and monotonous, offering little in the way of mental stimulation and creative critical thinking.
The primary benefit of assembly lines is that they allow workers and machines to specialize art performing specific tasks, which can increase productivity.
